Vibration Training and Infections

We often get people asking about active infections and if its ok to do Vibration Training. The simple answer is no, and here is why.

Exercise.....

No matter what type of infection we are discussing, the one thing they have in common is the ability to spread if " stirred up" enough. With Vibration Training ( training poses ) this is done by Hyper-Stimulation. A massive increase in blood and lymphatic fluid being pushed around the body. This is itself caused by the muscles relaxing and contracting very quickly at high pressure. Normally this is a good thing, but deliberately stirring up an infection with such intensity is not a good idea.

Classic Eg...... Tooth Infection / Abscesses / Ingrown Hair / Splinter . These are all basically a collection of dead tissue caught under the skin. If these dead cells are broken off and shifted to another part of the body, the infection could spread.

Massages .....

Direct massage on an infection is one of the fastest ways to spread the infection or flare it up. Not too much of an issue if it is only small but if the infection is the result of Type 2 Diabetes you may be dealing with a septic ulcer. This is serious and should NEVER be directly massaged.

Septic Ulcers....

This is an ulcer that is serious enough to lead to death or amputation if left untreated. Usually a result of very poor circulation ( which Vibration Training can of course can usually help with ) . But the Catch22 is while the septic infection is isolated to one area, it can normally be treated safely with antibiotics. But if the ulcer ruptures and enters the blood stream it is called Septicemia, and that can be deadly.

So what do you do if someone comes in with an active infection....?

The chances of someone coming in with a severe tooth ache or septic infection is pretty slim, as they are not exactly going to be in the mood to exercise. But as we start truly fighting the obesity crisis we may see such cases, and we have to be ready to say NO.

Tell them they have to get the infection treated, and all cleared up BEFORE they start or continue Vibration Training. Once that has happened they may be stopping future infections from ever setting in. So it is well worth the time and effort to do things correctly and in the right order.
